Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for higher or advanced level hazards (e.g. construction, manufacturing or chemical plants) or where your needs assessment identifies a requirement to provide additional training, covering a broad syllabus including the recognition and treatment of a wider range of conditions.
Course Aim:
The three main goals are saving lives, preventing conditions from worsening, and helping recovery. These aims are intertwined in the heart of first aid. They guide what we do in emergencies. Understanding these aims turns theoretical knowledge into practical skills that can save lives.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course candidates will be aware of the following:

- Treatment of an unconscious casualty

Training Method:
All candidates will undergo both theory and practical assessment throughout the 3 days, conducted by 2 professionally qualified trainers who have not been involved in the course.
Additional Information:
The course will give you the knowledge and confidence to deal with a first aid emergency in the workplace which covers the practical skills needed by a first aider in the modern workplace.
After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive a certification valid for three years.
This course is legally compliant with the current Health and Safety (first aid) regulations. It is a legal requirement under the Health & Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) order 1978 to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work for all employees. Under the Health & Safety First Aid regulations, employers shall provide persons, training, facilities and equipment to render first aid to their employees should they become injured or ill at work. This is also applicable to non-employees and service users/general members of the public.
Once successfully completed, each candidate will be awarded with a First Aid at Work certificate which has to be renewed within 3 years of issue date by completing the First Aid at Work Re-qualification course.
