Confined spaces training with LacPatrick

LacPatrick aimed to enhance safety in confined workspaces. Their employees successfully completed our tailored onsite confined space training program, enabling them to seamlessly integrate their training into their daily tasks, thereby optimising their experiential learning with us.

The confined spaces training equips them with vital safety skills applicable to their professional routines, ensuring not only their own safety but also that of their fellow colleagues. These skills are acquired through a combination of hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, complemented by classroom-based tutorials.

We conducted a series of simulations encompassing a range of emergency scenarios, such as those involving milk tankers and attic spaces. These simulations were initially executed without the presence of emergency procedures or equipment. Subsequently, the same scenarios were reenacted, this time with the implementation of the necessary equipment, highlighting the significant difference that proper training and equipment can make in ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

One notable advantage of conducting this training on-site was the realistic nature of the experience. Candidates were trained within the very spaces they navigate daily, enhancing the authenticity and effectiveness of the learning process for our students.

We approached Industry Training Services (ITS) to carry out a Confined Space Survey at our diary production plant in Monaghan.

As a result, ITS worked with us to tailor a Confined Space training programme focused on our environment, to include work around silos, tanks and milk tanker’s but we wanted it to be relatable and engaging with plenty of interaction.  

The training provided by ITS exceeded our expectations. The team’s approach to training and teaching style is unique in the industry. 

This was not ‘just another training course’, and the sessions left out employees educated and confident in carrying out confined space work safely. 

Candidates were encouraged to think on the spot, co-operate and communicate together. 

It opened the eyes of our employees on just how dangerous working in confined spaces can be and how to work safely in these conditions.

In the time following the training, we have built strong relationship with the ITS team and our employees, have since completed further training courses at the ITS training centre in Portadown. 

The staff are very helpful in keeping us updated with any new courses that might be of interest to our employees, and ensure the booking process is as quick and easy as possible.
