Who Should Attend?
Tailored for those in excavation work on roads, construction sites, parks, and industrial estates, this training ensures safety and proficiency. Participants must bring Personal Protective Equipment, and for on-site training, a suitable room and outdoor area are necessary for practical exercises.
Prerequisites:
Delegates must be aged 16 or over and medically fit in line with current industry requirements.
Course Aim:
This course teaches effective use of common location equipment to locate underground services, covering identification of both common and uncommon services. It equips delegates with essential knowledge to safely operate a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Signal Generator (GENNY) in line with HSG 47 guidelines for avoiding danger from underground services.
Learning Outcomes:
To successfully complete this course, candidates must be able to:
- Understand what regulations and Codes of Practice apply.
- Correctly use common location equipment.
- Correctly identify samples of common services.
- Understand the benefit of Permit Systems.
- Identification of services from drawings.
- Carry out a survey and produce a sketch of services found.
- Safe digging practices.
Assessment Method:
- Training in classroom setting
- Hands-on demonstrations
- Conduct survey with location equipment
Accreditation:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an ITS certificate which is valid for 3 years.
