This course is designed for delegates engaged in varied excavation work, emphasising safety and proficiency. Candidates must bring Personal Protective Equipment, and practical sessions highlight banksman duties. Training is exclusively held at the ITS training centre due to its specialised nature.
Pre-Requisites:
Delegates must be ages 16 or over and medically fit in line with current industry requirements.
Course Aim:
This training programme focuses on instructing delegates in the proper use of common location equipment for detecting underground services and emphasises safe digging practices around live services. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of equipment application and essential precautions for both safety and service integrity during excavation.
Learning Outcomes:
To successfully complete this course, candidates must be able to:
Understand what regulations and Codes of Practice apply.
Correctly use common location equipment.
Correctly identify samples of common services.
Understand the benefit of Permit Systems.
Identification of services from drawings.
Safe digging practices around services using mechanical excavator.
Assessment Method:
Classroom based training with practical demonstration.
Practical exercises using excavator/banksman to excavate around live services
Certification:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a ITS Accredited certificate which will need renewed every 3 years.
