Managing Safety during Temporary Works

ITS Founder and Managing Director, Brendan Crealey, will take to the stage at the 6th Annual National Construction Summit Ireland as one of a number of industry experts who will lead discussions on topics relevant to those working within the Irish construction sector. Brendan’s session will discuss best practice in relation to managing safety during temporary works.

Unfortunately, incidents during temporary works have been a cause for concern for decades. Construction projects are impacted by a variety of issues including, but not limited to, the volume of sub-contractors on site, the training or lack of training received prior to arrival, the systems used and the skills of those using them, as well as ongoing conflicts between finance and safety when budgeting for project delivery.

Brendan will highlight the wide range of activities that are classed as temporary works, the legislation governing such activity, and the potential impacts of cutting corners using a series of real life events to illustrate. He will also identify key people within a business or project team who should be involved in defining an organisation’s safety procedures, and the training required to enable organisations to minimise incidents such as damage to property, injuries, and fatalities during temporary building works.

The National Construction Summit

The National Construction Summit is designed to stimulate debate, enrich knowledge, and connect stakeholders involved in the finance, design, construction and management of Ireland’s buildings, infrastructure, and industrial projects. The much anticipated annual event, which returns face-to-face this year after a break due to the pandemic, will take place in The Sport Ireland Campus in Blanchardstown, Dublin on Thursday 3rd March 2022. It will bring together over 2000 construction sector professionals from a multitude of roles, from construction teams, architects, building materials providers, and energy and environmental representatives to policy makers, government bodies, lenders and investors, legal and tax professionals and many others who input and contribute to the success of the Irish Construction sector as a whole.

If you would like to attend Brendan’s presentation, it will take place at 14:20 – 14:40pm within the Jobs, Skills & Training Section.

The agenda and speaker details can be found on www.nationalconstructionsummit.ie. Tickets can be booked free of charge on the website or directly on Eventbrite.
