ITS Becomes Company Supporter of The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

Last month on national ‘Time to talk’ day ITS welcomed The Lighthouse Construction Charity to Industry Training Services, Portadown headquarters. The two organisations have joined forces to ensure that the best possible emotional, physical and financial wellbeing and support is continually available to the wider construction sector and help raise further awareness of this highly worthy charity.

The Lighthouse Club is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families across the UK and Ireland. Tragically, every working day across the UK and Ireland, two construction workers take their life and last year alone, the charity assisted over 4,000 families in crisis.

Becoming a company supporter, ITS endeavours to convey their message of welfare and wellbeing and increase awareness of the exceptional support services they provide in order to keep construction workers and their families well.

Natalie and Tom from The Lighthouse Club delivered information sessions to staff and trainees and discussed the various confidential support options available. This included support in dealing with stress, anxiety and depression, sleep deprivation and suicidal thoughts, occupational health and alcohol and drug addiction plus support with emergency financial aid, debt management and retirement planning.

ITS is delighted to become a company supporter and two members of staff are currently undertaking training to become Mental Health First Aid Trainers. As a beacon of this highly important charity, ITS will continue to promote and spread awareness of the support available and have commenced fundraising initiatives in support of this very worthy cause.

The Lighthouse Club is 100% focused on improving the welfare and wellbeing of the construction community across the UK and Ireland and ITS is committed to developing this partnership. In addition to this, the charity also provides one hour CPD accredited masterclasses on a range of areas including managing stress, mindfulness and financial management.

Anyone requiring support can avail of the 24/7 helpline on UK 0345 609 1956 or
Ireland 1800 939 122. Alternatively, text ‘HARDHAT’ to UK 85258 or Ireland 50808. They also have a self-support app and further information is available at https://www.lighthouseclub.org.
