NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Controlled Lifting Operations- Slinger/Signaller

Who Should Attend?

This training course is aimed towards individuals that work in the construction industry and are required to operate cranes and other lifting equipment.


This qualification will improve knowledge and expertise in areas including general health, safety, and welfare, as well as adhering to productive work practices. Students have the option to specialise in the preparation, guidance, and placement of suspended loads.

This qualification allows you, the student, to exhibit and acknowledge your abilities, knowledge, and understanding, as well as your competence, in a workplace context, allowing you to operate as a Slinger/Signaller in the construction industry.

You will be evaluated against a set of performance and knowledge standards generated from the occupational area’s National Occupational Standards. You’ll be evaluated by a competent and certified trainer/assessor whose duty it is to work with you and assist you in completing your qualification.



The NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Controlled Lifting Operations aims to provide an in-depth knowledge of the following areas:

  • attaching and preparing suspended loads for movement using lifting accessories in the workplace
  • guiding, positioning, and placing suspended loads in the workplace
  • conforming to general health, safety, and welfare in the workplace
  • conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
