Accredited Bodies

An accredited third party can demonstrate competence in health and safety. This is also known as conformity assessment. Most accreditation schemes originated in the construction industry, but are now used more widely.

ITS offers a number of accreditations and courses to give any business the advantage of demonstrating their competence in health and safety from a trusted professional body.

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) is an accredited body that provides skills cards for the plant sector, covering a large range of plant and plant-related categories and more are continually added.

Lantra, one of the leading awarding organisation's for the land-based sector and a one-stop shop for nationally recognised industry training and accredited qualifications for Installing, Maintaining and Removing Temporary Traffic Management on Rural and Urban Roads.

The Construction Skills Register (CSR) is a register of construction workers who have completed the industry approved CSR health and safety training course and assessment.

Site Safety Plus (SSP) courses are designed to give everyone, from operative to senior manager, the skills they need to progress through the industry. Courses range from the one-day Health and Safety Awareness course to the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme.

The streetworks qualification register is authorised by the UK Government Transport Departments to maintain the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR). Under the New Roads and Street Works Act, 1991 (NRSWA), candidates with a certificate from an Awarding Organisation can be issued with an SWQR card.

The Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA) aims to raise the awareness of the range and benefits of road and airfield surface treatments and promote work force competence, professionalism and safe working practices. Membership covers the whole supply chain and includes large national and regional contracting companies, local authority direct labour services organisations, materials and equipment suppliers, test houses and consultants. As the focal point for the UK road surface treatments industry, the RSTA offers its Members a recognised industry voice with representation to government and key client groups, input on best practice development, health and safety and technical issues.

Qualsafe Awards is the largest Awarding Organisation for First Aid qualifications in the UK. Their qualifications are included on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is a chartered body for safety and health professionals. They are the largest membership body for health and safety professionals advising governments, NGOs and policymakers.
