The Tower Crane Rescue course delivered by ITS at the Altnagelvin North Wing site was positively received by all attendees of the course. There was adequate theory content in the morning directly relevant and tailored to the needs of the site. The practical in the afternoon was enjoyable and again tailored to suit the needs of our site. We mocked up a few rescues of an operative falling from scaffold while wearing a fall arrest harness and then moved onto the rescue of a tower crane operator in various scenarios from mildly sick to fully incapacitated. This was again tailored to suit the Tower Cranes we have on the North Wing site and included the fitting of harness, removal of operator from cab onto rear jib and then decent of the operator to the ground. All the guys who were willing to descend from the crane jib using the decent equipment had great fun.
